What this covers
These terms apply to Buddybuy, a group shopping service for online stores, and to the plugins and apps that connect a store to it. By creating a Buddybuy account or installing one of our plugins, you agree to them.
"You" means the merchant who installs Buddybuy on a store. Shoppers who join a group room do not need an account and are not party to these terms; how their data is handled is described in our privacy policy.
The service
Buddybuy hosts the group shopping rooms — the chat, voting, shared cart and the group discount calculation. The plugin installed on your store is a connector: it displays the room, applies the discount your rules produce, and reports group orders back to your dashboard. The plugin itself is free and open source.
Your store's checkout, payments, fulfilment and customer relationships remain entirely yours. Buddybuy never takes payments from your shoppers and is not a party to any sale made on your store.
Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your Site Key and Site Secret confidential. Anyone holding them can report orders to your dashboard.
- You are responsible for the discount rules you configure. Buddybuy applies the rules you set; it does not judge whether a discount is commercially sensible for you.
- You must not use the service to break the law, infringe others' rights, or send content that is unlawful, abusive or deliberately misleading.
Availability
We aim to keep the service running continuously, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability. The plugin is built so that an outage on our side does not block your store: if Buddybuy cannot be reached, no group discount is applied and checkout proceeds normally. Order reports are retried in the background.
Fees
The plugin is free. Paid plans for the hosted service, where they apply, are shown in your dashboard before you subscribe. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and the plugin continues to function on the free tier or stops applying group discounts, depending on your plan.
Data
What we store, why, and for how long is set out in the privacy policy. In short: room activity and group order records, so your dashboard can show them. We do not sell personal data.
Ending the agreement
You may stop using Buddybuy at any time by deactivating the plugin and closing your account. We may suspend an account that is being used to break these terms, or that is causing harm to the service or to other merchants. Where the situation allows it, we will tell you first and give you a chance to put it right.
Liability
The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, Buddybuy is not liable for lost profits, lost sales, or indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes
We may update these terms as the service changes. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will tell account holders by email before it takes effect.
